We are working to secure hardware partnerships to offer quick onboarding that will offer a simplified connection. For the time being, a few camera models that provide RTSP access have been tested.

Tested models include: TP-Link Tapo C100 - Indoor WiFi 2MP 1080P TP-Link Tapo C320WS - Outdoor WiFi/RJ-45 4MP 2K 98ft Night Vision Reolink E1 Pro - indoor 4MP PTZ WiFi While any camera or software that properly streams a clean RTSP feed will work, we've tested a few models internally to help with onboarding. Please note that our internal testing of these specific units was for a relatively short duration of time and while our tests were successful, Elumicate does not support or make any guarantees on these units.

We've tested units from 2 popular brands - TP-Link and Reolink. We recommend wired RJ-45 connections however understand this is not convenient for many and therefore limited our testing to models that support wireless connections. The 3 cameras that tested well support both RJ-45 or Wi-Fi connections. Specific models and details are found below.

TP-Link

TP Link Tapo Cameras have decent reviews and are known to provide good value and have RTSP functionality.

The TP-Link Tapo 2k C320WS tested successfully, has both wireless and RJ-45 connectivity (no POE) has 4.5 stars with thousands of reviews, and offers features commonly found on security cameras, works with Alexa & Google Home, and has up to 100 foot night vision.

We also tested the Tapo C100 (C110 is the newer model and is preferred with better image sensor/higher resolution) indoor camera. This camera is very low cost however is an indoor camera and has no RJ-45 capabilities. If using an indoor camera pointing out a window, IR lighting/night vision should be disabled and glare may be an issue depending on placement. According to TP-Link the following models will work with RTSP support.

Reolink

Reolink E1 Pro indoor camera has passed our internal testing and has good online reviews. For the price point, the Reolink optics seem superior to other devices we tested. Take note, this is an indoor camera, if used indoor pointing out a window for example, IR lights will bounce off the window back into the camera's focal view. If using a camera pointing out a window, IR lights should be turned off. If possible, we recommend an outdoor camera with wired connection if possible as wired connections will be more reliable and outdoor cameras can make use of IR Night Vision.
